Arabic and Islamic Studies

In the Arabic and Islamic studies department at Sherborne Qatar we have prepared our own special curriculum for Reception which covers the curriculum of the Ministry of Education and the standards of the Supreme Education Council. This curriculum is designed specifically to improve the abilities of students in all Arabic language skills; reading, writing, composition and developing the creative way of thinking.

The Arabic curriculum for the rest of year groups is the curriculum of the Ministry of Education for this year, taking into consideration the standards of the SEC. We are also preparing Sherborne's own Arabic curriculum which will be very distinguished and effective.

Islamic Studies
The curriculum is divided into several units covering the main themes of Islamic studies based on the SEC standards; worship, reading and memorising the Quran. Pupil time is also spent on supporting general morals and good behaviours in society.

Noon Praying Time
Muslim students who would like to pray can do so in the school Mosque with the supervision of the teacher of Islamic Studies.

Arabic Classes
The department offers educational services to suit all students. In addition to the ordinary classes, we have classes for the non-Arabic speakers as well as support groups for those who need to improve their own linguistic abilities.

Reading corner
We have a library with variety of books for students to enjoy reading.
