National Arabic Spelling Contest

On Monday 22nd April 2012, Sherborne Qatar School participated in the National Arabic Spelling Contest organized by the Supreme Education Council and held in Al-Wafa independent school.

To internally prepare the students for the competition, five out of seventeen applicant students were selected, trained by Mrs. Hiba, Mr. Fuad and supervised by Mr. Bassam. Both the students and the teachers spent extra time in school and put forth commendable effort to get prepared for the contest.
The contest was composed of three rounds. Our students passed the first round successfully and achieved third place among eleven schools.

The Supreme Education Council praised the students' efforts and their hard work that led to this achievement. It is worth noting that Sherborne Qatar was the only international school participating in the contest. Please join us in congratulating the students taking part in the contest:

1 - Ganna Omar (5B)
2 - Jannah Abdullah (5O)
3 - Noor Al-Khatib (5D)
4 - Amr Agamy (4R)
5 - Asma Al-Thani (4M)

Sherborne Qatar School is invited to participate (with a production) in the contest's closing ceremony which will be honored by the attendance of the Minister of Education. The production's duration should be 10 minutes and should reflect the students' knowledge of Arabic language. It can be poetry reading, drama etc. which holds educational values. The production is open for students from years 2 to 6.
