Sherborne Qatar Parent Teacher Association
Dear Staff and Parents,
We are delighted to announce the launch of the new Parent Teacher Association (PTA) which we hope will become an important part of the life of the school community and of which all staff and parents will automatically be members.
The principle objectives of the PTA are:
- developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school
- engaging in social or community activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
The first task is to form a Committee which will begin its work in January 2013. The Committee will consist of a Chairperson, Deputy-Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary and 8 general Members. Three members of this committee will be elected from the teaching and non-teaching staff; the remainder will be parents. The office holders will be decided by an internal vote within the committee. There will also be another member of staff who will be the official liaison between the Committee and the Headmasters.
Nominations for election to the Committee may be made by any Member of the Association and seconded by another. Nominations must have the consent of the nominee and should be made in writing to reach me, using the form below, no later than Thursday 6 December. If no nominations are received before the inaugural meeting any members present may nominate a person, with his or her consent, and that person may be appointed by a majority vote of those present.
The inaugural meeting and committee elections will be held on Wednesday 12 December at 7.00 p.m. in The Auditorium at school and we hope to see as many of you as possible at that meeting.
The constitution for the PTA is being sent out with this letter.
