At Sherborne Qatar we follow an enhanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England in Years 7, 8 and 9. We prepare boys and girls for IGCSE and GCSE examinations in Year 11 and in the Sixth Form we offer a broad range of subjects leading to AS Levels (Year 12) and A Levels (Year 13).

Our policy is not to fast-track any pupils, but to ensure the highest possible grades for them through wider and deeper exploration of the subjects studied.

In Years 7, 8 and 9 pupils study the following subjects: Art; Drama; English; Geography; History; ICT/Computer Science; French or Arabic; Music; Physical Education; Science; Spanish or Islamic Studies; and, Qatari History. For an overview of the subjects taken each term in KS3 please visit this page.

It is a requirement of all schools in Qatar to provide pupils with the opportunity to study Qatari History up to the end of Year 9. The course develops pupils’ knowledge of the background of modern-day Qatar, and of some traditions and customs of the culture. The course includes visits to local historical sites and other places of interest.

Personal, Social and Health Education is delivered as part of the pastoral programme.

In Years 10 and 11 all pupils study the following core I/GCSE subjects: English Language and English Literature (or English as a Second Language); Mathematics; Coordinated or Separate Sciences; and, French, Spanish or Arabic.
